Sahitya Akademi metro bookshop opened at Vishwavidyalaya metro station

Sahitya Akademi Metro Book Shop at Vishwavidyalaya metro station is opened its second Book shop in metro premises, with a joint initiative by DMRC and Sahitya Akademy, One bookstall of the Sahitya Akademi is already functunal at the Kashmere Gate Metro station.

The idea of this initiative is to promote the Indian Literature by providing quality books in Indian languages published by the Akademy and also to cultivate reading habits among Metro commuters and employees. 

The Metro passengers can avail 15% discount on the books purchased from this book shop by showing their Delhi Metro Smart Card. Limited edition of DMRC publications will also be made available for sale from the Metro book shop. 

The Bookshop was formally inaugurated by Shri Vishwanath Prasad Tiwari, Chairman of the Sahitya Akademy in the presence of other senior DMRC and Sahitya Akademy officials. DMRC has already opened two Bookshops in association with National Book Trust at Kashmere Gate and Vishwavidyalaya Metro stations in 2014. 

DMRC in recent times has taken up the initiative of tying up with various government bodies/organizations (National Book Trust, Delhi Tourism, Sahitya Akademy, India Habitat Centre, Ministry of Textiles etc.) authorizing them to use the Metro premises in such a way that they are treated as a hub for promotion of Indian Art, Culture, Literature, Craft, Tourism etc.

DMRC written test results declared: Check results at delhimetrorail.com

(DMRC) has released the written test results for the post of Assistant Manager/ Finance, Legal, Architecture. Written Exam was held on June 14, 2015. Candidates can get their document verified  & Medical examination on any day between August 10, 2015 to August 12, 2015.
DMRC has also released written test results for the post of Assistant Programmer (NE01). Written Exam was held on April 12, 2015. Candidates should bring 10 passport size recent colour photographs with all original documents/certificates. The standards of Medical Examination for Assistant Manager/Finance (E04+Ex03) (Executive-Non Technical) are available at DMRC website.

ICICI Bank launches recharge facility for Delhi Metro commuters at mRUPEE outlets

ICICI Bank Ltd, India's largest private sector bank, announced the launch of a new recharge facility for Delhi Metro cards. Any card holder of Delhi Metro can now conveniently recharge his metro cards at close to 1000 mRUPEE outlets of Mobi Wallet Payment Systems Limited (MMPL), a business correspondent of ICICI Bank. This hassle free facility enables the users to recharge their Delhi Metro cards without standing in long queues at the metro stations and paying any additional charges.

Commenting on the service, Rajiv Sabharwal, Executive Director, ICICI Bank Limited, said: "ICICI Bank has been a leader in using technology to provide easily accessible services across the country. This service is yet another innovative addition to our wide array of mobile-based services. It offers a convenient choice of recharge to lakhs of DMRC commuters near their homes and offices. The metro card holders can locate the nearest mRUPEE outlet simply by sending an SMS METRO to 9222208888.

The three easy steps to recharge the Delhi metro card:

Step 1: Customers of DMRC can visit any mRupee outlet and provide the recharge amount to the agent along with their Delhi Metro card number and mobile number

Step 2: On successful completion, they will be notified about the final status of the recharge transaction over SMS.

Step 3: They will have to visit an Add Value Machine (AVM) at Delhi Metro station, show their metro card on AVM and press the 'Add Value' button on the screen of AVM in order to complete the recharge process. The card will start reflecting the latest balance.

Delhi Metro train services to begin from 4 a.m. on this weekend: International Yoga Day

On the occasion of upcoming International Day for Yoga, the Delhi Metro has decided to start Metro train services from 4:00 AM for two days on all its Lines (Except Airport Express Line) i.e, on 20th and 21st June 2015.

On June 20, when International Yoga Day would be celebrated by Prajapita Brahma Kumaries Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya at the Red Fort, two extra trains were run for public from terminal stations of all lines at 4am and 4.15am respectively.

Special arrangement for ticketing have been done at Chandni Chowk and Kashmere Gate Metro stations in view of anticipated crowd at these stations," a Delhi Metro statement said.

On June 21, two extra trains would be run for public service from terminal stations of all lines at 4 a.m. and 4.30 a.m. respectively.

"Special arrangement for ticketing have been done at Race Course, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro stations in view of anticipated crowd at these stations," the statement said.

"After providing these two special train services, Metro trains will run as per the normal schedule throughout the day on all lines,"

Delhi Metro smart card now valid for travel on airport express line

From today, Delhi metro smart cards will be valid for travel on the Airport Express Line also,
and thus there is no need for DMRC Smart Card holders to purchase any additional token or card separately for travel on the Airport Express Line.

Urban development minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday purchased the first “interoperable card” who is a regular traveller on the Airport Express Line of the Delhi Metro.


For public convenience, the existing smart cards issued from the stations on the Airport Express Line will continue to be valid only for travel on the Airport Express Line.

No new Airport Express smart cards will be issued from May 1 onwards.

Under this new arrangement, the security deposit for the purchase of the smart cards will continue to be Rs. 50, but the maximum recharge value will increase from the presently applicable Rs. 1000 to Rs. 3000.

Commuters will be able to recharge their Delhi Metro smart cards at the stations of the Airport Express Line as well from Friday.

Delhi Metro`s website re-launched with new features and additional attractions.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) official website – www.delhimetrorail.com, was re-launched a month back with many new user friendly features as well as additional attractions for the convenience of the its commuters. Dr. Mangu Singh, DMRC’s Managing Director formally unveiled the new revamped website.

A ‘passenger information’ section has been introduced on the menu of new site, where the commuters will be able to get all the necessary information pertaining to Metro functions. A dynamic ‘journey planner and fares’ link has been provided here, through which the commuters can easily find out the fare, route, intervening stations, interchange points and travel time between any two stations on the network.

Another new feature is the availability of ‘first’ and ‘last’ train timings from all stations on the network. Earlier, only the ‘first’ and ‘last’ train timings of respective corridors were available, but now the ‘first’ and ‘last’ train timings from each station can be checked by the commuters.
Now the commuters will also be able to check the details about the availability of ATMs at Metro stations. They can get details about the availability of ATMs at each station and simultaneously can also select the name of the bank from a drop down menu and find out which stations have ATMs from the particular bank.

All other relevant information such as network map, parking facilities, feeder bus routes, Airport Express line details, Lost and found facility, Metro Police stations details etc have also been provided. This section also has dedicated links detailing facilities available for women as well as the differently abled commuters.

The new revamped website also is compatible for browsing on both tablets and smartphones. Its home page has been redesigned with a new look with large photographs and easy to browse links. A commuter survey has been put up on the home page so that commuters can easily give their feedback about their travel experience. Micro sites on DMRC’s training institute as well as the Metro Museum are also attached with the site.

Delhi Metro launches exact change counters to ease queuing

Delhi Metro on Sunday opened 'exact change counters' at 20 stations for passengers who bring the exact ticket amount, which is expected ease queuing at the ticket counters.

The 20 special counters are located at New Delhi, Chandni Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Anand Vihar, Shahdara, HUDA City Centre, Jahangirpuri, Uttam Nagar East, Saket, Dilshad Garden, Kashmere Gate, Badarpur, AIIMS, Vaishali, Karol Bagh, Seelampur, M.G. Road, NOIDA City Centre, R. K. Ashram and Dwarka Mor.

"At the exact change counters, only those passengers who bring exact change for purchasing token for their destination station will be entertained. This will avoid any queuing or waiting time for these passengers," So bring exact change to buy tokens and save your time.

Delhi Metro service is affected over weekend between Sarita Vihar, Badarpur

Delhi Metro train services between Sarita Vihar and Badarpur stations is affected over the weekend due to construction work pertaining to the line's extension to Faridabad.

Trains will run on a single line between the said stations on Line 6 due to overhead wire interlinking for the extension work of the corridor till Faridabad, a metro statement said.

"There will be a gap of around 16 minutes between 11 PM and the last train on February 28 and between 6 AM and 8 AM on March 1 as a single line will be operational."

Delhi Metro: CISF cuts security waiting time by half

In order to facilitate easy movement of Delhi Metro commuters, CISF has cut down frisking and scanning time by almost half, keeping the upper time-limit to clear long queue at five minutes at most-crowded stations.
